BEHIND THE VICTORY The Honourable Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr Akinwunmi Adesina CON, has been very supportive, and because of his strong encouragement, commitment and support for the cashew sector, Nigeria bided for and won the bid to host the 2013 WORLD CASHEW EXPO AND 8TH ACA CONFERENCE on 19/9/2012. In Nigeria’s 52 years history, this is the first time, a cashew event of such global magnitude will be holding.

ABOUT THE EXPO

• THE 2013 WORLD CASHEW EXPO AND FESTIVAL WILL BY FAR BE THE BIGGEST CASHEW EVENT EVER HELD ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH.

• It is a global event. • Will bring together all the major stakeholders, decision makers, and cashew industry leaders Worldwide to Nigeria. • Attract investors into the country.

BENEFITS FOR THE HOST NATION • International spot light on the Nigerian cashew industry. • Stimulate increased demand for Nigerian cashew. • Improved image for Nigerian cashew. Nigerian cashew has been most discounted by as much as between $200 $600/ton due to the negative image of our cashew. • Promote the Nigerian cashew and attract foreign direct investment into the sector and thereby create jobs for thousands of Nigerians. • Establish platform for increased value addition to raw cashew and export market for same and as such earn foreign exchange for the Country. • Move Nigeria from being exporter of raw cashew to leading exporter of processed cashew.

BENEFITS CONTINUED • Contribute to Agricultural Transformation Agenda of the Federal Government of Nigeria. • Promote Agric-tourism as over 80% of International Delegates will be visiting Nigeria for the first time. • Improved international donor/technical support and collaboration for the for the development of the Nigerian cashew industry, as concentration has been more on countries such as Ghana, Benin Republic, Mozambique, Tanzania , Burkina Faso etc, while Nigeria remains neglected.

BENEFITS CONTINUED • Provide a platform for at least 19 State Governors of cashew producing areas in Nigeria to introduce the exciting initiatives that their Government is taking to facilitate investment in the cashew value chain. • Present the Nigerian cashew value chain development initiative and action plan. This initiative will be designed to create 200,000 jobs for Nigerians within 2 years, additional 500,000 jobs across 10 year period, and show case cashew investment opportunities across Nigeria on a State by State basis and incentives for investors that will encourage and support business.

ACCESSMENT TOUR • On the 17th -20th of December 2012, a powerful delegation from the African Cashew Alliance and the global cashew task force, will be visiting Nigeria to access the state of readiness of Nigeria to host the 2013 WORLD CASHEW EXPO AND 8TH ACA ANNUAL CONFERENCE.
