Why Study Information Security • Only a quarter of firms currently use data security tools, according to new research. • A study by business and IT analyst Quocirca has found that that about a quarter of organisations had implemented data loss prevention (DLP) technology. • Of those who had introduced DLP, 70 per cent of respondents claimed they were confident that they could protect their personal data, while less than ten per cent of those without DLP systems expressed the same confidence.

• Bob Tarzey, service director of Quocirca, expressed his belief that many firms do intend to implement data security technology but simply have not done so currently.

Why Study Security (cont.) • He wrote on it-director.com: "Perhaps the main reason why 75 per cent of organisations are yet to address DLP is that they simply have not got around to it.
