Materials • 1 Prepared 4containers holding one female and 4 males crickets in each containers, one person to blow cigarette smoke in to each container but not blow cigarette smoke into the control group, timer, apple, potato, carrot, cardboard

Hypothesis • As I have a cigarette person blow smoke into the container were the crickets then the crickets will not chirp a lot because of the cigarette smoke.

Problem • How can I find out how cigarette smoke affect the crickets.

Question • How does cigarette smoke affect crickets?

Procedure 1.Materials: 4 containers with one female and 4 males crickets in each, one person to blow cigarette smoke in to each container, but not the control group, timer. 2.First put one female and 4 males into each containers you should have 4 containers. 3.They put cricket water and a apple or carrot, potato and cardboard into the containers so that they will be alive. 4. Then you get a person who smokes cigarettes and have the person blow cigarette smoke into the containers, but don’t have the cigarette person blow smoke into the control group. 5. Then record them chirping and what they are doing 1 minute before and 1 minute after. 6. Don’t get cigarette smoke in the control group

Conclusion • Therefore my hypothesis was wrong because when I did my data collecting. It showed that they like the cigarette smoke. They started chirping and became active.

Background I am going to be writing about cigarette smoke and some causes because of cigarette smoke. Also about crickets and how you tell them a part. Plus a little bite about different kinds of crickets. Cigarette smoke effects your health. It is very serious and in many cases deadly. There are hundreds of which that is toxic. Cigarette smoke affects every thing from the internal functioning of organs to the efficiency of the body’s immune system. This all means if you smoke you can die or get many diseases from it. So it will be best if you don’t smoke cigarettes ever. Causes of cigarette smoke. Nicotine is a causes from smoking cigarettes. It reaches the brain within 10 seconds after you inhale the cigarette smoke. Carbon monoxide is a causes of cigarette too. Carbon monoxide binds to hemoglobin in the red blood cells. Also preventing affected cells from carrying a full load of oxygen. crickets can live for 3 day without food and water. In my observations they can live a long time with food and water. If they don’t kill each other. Crickets are very mean to each other. There are many different kinds of crickets. Also you can tell they a part because the females have a thing coming out of them and the males don’t. Also both sexes poop a lot. There are many different kinds of crickets. For examples the Adult House crickets are is ¾ to 1 inch long. They are light yellowish brown with 3 dark bands on their heads. Next type is of cricket is the Field cricket. They are slightly longer than House crickets. Also they are dark brown, gray or black. The Field crickets prefer to live out side. They feed on plants ,will come inside if food sources dry up or there is none. The third kind of cricket is a Tree cricket. They feed on plants or other insects.

Results • They liked the cigarette smoke. It made them more active. They started chirping and they didn’t chirp before.
