Antigone Essay! Have you ever read the myth Antigone? Well it is such a good myth! Reading it will help you understand what goes on in people minds back in the day. Also it will teach you about role models and a feminist and what they are, and how the main character is all these things. What is a role model? A role model is “a person whose behavior, example, or success is or can be emulated by others”. Also, I role model is someone you look up too and want to be like when you are older or just in general. Also, I role model’s actions can be imitated by others such as like what they did. A role model is something everyone wants to be or even have. Antigone is a role model! This is because she went against Creons wishes and stood up for her family which a women cannot do back in the day. She buried or put dust on her brother when she was not aloud too, and people would really look up to her because she is brave to do something like that and she knows she could have been killed but it was okay because she was standing up for what she believed in and what she thought was right. Also, everyone wants to be able to stand up for what they believe in, and not just do everything a King says to do or not to do. What is a feminist? A feminist is “the doctrine advocating social, political, and all other rights of women equal to those of men”. Also, could be said as, a women that thinks that men are just as equal is women. They think this because men always think they have more power

than women, but in reality they really don’t. For an example a real feminist would be like Susan B Anthony, who achieved the women’s civil rights leader. Is Antigone a feminist and how? Yes she is and she is a feminist because she went against Creon to bury her brother. Also she’s not scared to die because of what she did and she was ready to stand up to the King for her consequences. Also, she stood up to Creon and told him that she’s not scared of him and that she doesn’t care about civil law she only cares about divine law. Not just anyone would do that, she truly wanted to be equal to men; or she would have never put dust over her brother. Antigone wants to be able to do exactly what men are able to do, in the beginning what Creon said a man had done this and Antigone showed him wrong and said a woman can do anything a man can do. Antigone showed him what she could do. Antigone is not swept up in her emotions because; she really cared about her brother and Haemon, the man that was in love with her. Haemon really loved her, and she felt the same about him. For example when Haemon said “Not here, no; she will not die here, King and you will never see my face again go on raving as long as you’ve a friend to endure you” He is saying if you kill her, father you will never see my face again. So Haemon really cared about her, and didn’t want her to die, and told Creon that. Antigone wasn’t really swept up in her emotions because she really wanted to save her brother and stand up for what was right, well what she thought was right. Antigone was a great character in this myth. She was very important. She showed a lot of readers what was right and wrong, and that being a role model is good and supporting what

you believe in is always good such as being a feminist. Reading this myth can help a lot of women and men understand things a lot better.
