Appendix D

WISCONSIN DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES SNOW REMOVAL SERVICES FOR 2300 N MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. DRIVE

Snow removal shall be done when accumulation has reached two inches or more by 6:00 AM or in the event of similar snow accumulation during the business day. Regardless of accumulation, a salting operation must be done for ice and sleet storms. Maintaining safe conditions for visitors and employees is of paramount importance. The operations covered in this bid are listed below. 1. Approximately 1,445 linear feet of perimeter “city” sidewalk, highlighted in yellow on attached map (sidewalks A-D). 2. Approximately 70,660 square feet as follows: A. All parking lots, including stalls, represented on the attached map as Visitor parking (1), Handicap parking (2), Employee parking (3), where snow has to be hauled out since there is no place to put it, and the Secured lot (8). B. Access roadways marked (5) on the map. C. Loading ramp marked (4) on the map. D. Hand shoveling of pathways marked (6) and (7) on the map, which lead from employee lot to east door (6) and from sidewalk to west door (7), the yellow striped area and step leading into the north entrance to the building off the Secured lot (8), and the walkway leading from the west door (7) heading east along North Avenue to the pathway on the east side of the building leading to the east door (6). E. Hand shoveling to clean up any residual snow in or affecting the three handicap parking stalls (2) and handicap sidewalk ramp adjacent to the east door (6). F. After the snow plowing, hand shoveling to clean up any residual snow in seven parking stalls along the north side of the DNR building in the secured lot from the door (8) to the gate plus the two handicap parking stalls west of the striped area, and including the driving lane which is frequently used as a walking path to the north door. 3. Snow must be hauled from areas as required to keep area clear. 4. Snow removal from all parking lots must be completed by 6:30 a.m. Secured lot is locked until 6:00 a.m., when security guards arrive and therefore is to be done last to allow DNR staff to move vehicles from the area for thorough plowing. Shoveling of pathways (6) and (7) and entrance to north door (8) on map must be completed no later than 7:00 a.m. 5. Salting: must be done on sidewalks, pathways, parking lots and loading ramp as required for ice control. Excess salting (i.e. piles of salt) is not allowable.

6. Damage caused by contractor to lawns, fences, trees, shrubs, etc. must be corrected as soon as weather and spring planting season permit. 7. City sidewalks must always be cleared within City of Milwaukee municipal requirements. 8. Check back service: A. Open entrances to property after city plowing. B. Contractor must check sidewalks for icy spots and salt or remove ice as required. C. Same day re-plowing and hand shoveling to remove drifts or additional snowfall as required.

NOTE: The above specifications are as complete as possible, but it is understood that the contractor shall include in its bids all operations and equipment needed to properly remove snow, whether listed above or not.
