• Established in 2004 to support new communities from Black and Asian Minorities Group •Facilitate engagement between new migrants communities & mainstream organisations • Support migrants communities and their families to better integrate into British society • Community and cultural based befriending approach to help break isolation
AIMS: Approach new communities using their Faiths groups, communities centres & train their peers to engage with mainstream organisations effectively, •
Inform new migrant communities to fully understand how UK mainstream organisations operate ( as it is different to where they came from)

Support new migrant to understand how to negotiate services and access the system appropriately ( the use of correct language)
•
Educate new migrant to better use of the services available ( to use services when needed )
Workshops available in the following areas: •Health • Housing •Education • Immigration •Employment

Sign of welcoming are every where and free for everyone to feel included. Our street is full of every nationalities, races, age and gender. (Our engagement method to change)
The mainstream organisations engagement strategy has been effective for the indigenous. However, we found that this method is ineffective amongst new migrant communities because of several barriers. •Languages •Cultures •Religion •Others
•Initiate face to face engagement approach • Words of mouth • Workshops
• Community and public events • Outreach engagement approach • Local community peers support workers • Not advice session, may sign-post only
• We initiated training courses with external organisation for our team on various issues: Tuberculosis signs and symptoms Migrant rights and entitlement Housing and welfare benefit system Health and social care entitlement These trainings are organised to equip our team with appropriate skills and knowledge before undertaking the responsibility.

This event was organised to raise the awareness of TB in Birmingham. We aimed to use migrant population cultural music to attract them including general public. We also had speakers from migrant communities to testify their journey with the disease and how they are cured. We distributed almost 2000 flyers to general public and 65% of Black and Asian origins.
• Our team are engaging with students during stay safe week at the
college to raise awareness of screening. Students are interested to know about TB signs and symptoms
Our approach • we delivered workshops to student in different groups. we used the same welcome to Birmingham methods to allow students to ask questions and encourage them to make decision for TB screening. The approach was very effective.
Aim;
Encourage homeless citizen within Birmingham and Black Country to be screen for TB Liaise with soup run kitchens staffs Engage with homeless citizen within Birmingham and Black country Liaise with accommodation provider ( Homeless hostels and days centres)

• One to one meeting with service providers • Group meeting to agree the project agenda • Recruitment of volunteers from services providers • Use community support workers and Former TB patient to encourage people
These are the three main characteristics required for a good and effective public engagement shown in the case of the MXU Pilot Project in Birmingham – July 2014. Good communication skills Ability to manage Public and stress ( working under pressure) Good decision making skills
