CALL FOR ARTISTS Greater Hudson Valley and New York City Areas Artists from Brooklyn to Kingston are invited to participate in the Orange County Arts Council’s Juried Art Exhibit:

Functional Objects The Orange County Arts Council is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to meeting the growing need for local arts advocacy and serving as a county-wide arts resource for Orange County, New York. The Arts Council is currently seeking proposal submissions for an outdoor group art exhibit to be juried and curated by Nora Lawrence, Curator at Storm King Art Center in Mountainville, NY. The show will be on view at Safe Harbors of the Hudson in Newburgh, NY. Each selected artist will receive a minimum $500 honorarium. Larger amounts may be awarded depending on project size, construction, material, etc. The show will consist of created or planned works selected to interact with Safe Harbors Green, the organization’s new outdoor park. The park, located between Ann Street, Liberty Street and Broadway, covers one block in a heavily trafficked urban environment. When current renovations are complete, the park will feature a green, a plaza for public events, an overlook area, rain water gardens and a child-friendly section. See map below. Entry Deadline: No submissions will be accepted after 11:59PM on February 15th, 2016. Installation: June 15th, 2016 Exhibition Dates: June, 2016 until June, 2017 Entry Fee: $35.00 per entry. Fees are non-refundable. Arts Council members will have $25.00 credited to their next membership renewal. Application: https://orangecountynyartscouncil.submittable.com/submit Eligibility: Artists must be over 18 years of age and must live or work in the regions specified. Selected proposals will demonstrate a functional purpose within the environment and should have the ability to withstand human and natural interaction, including outdoor weather for all four seasons. Proposals should require little to no maintenance. Any maintenance is the artist’s responsibility. There are no size restrictions. Hazardous materials must not be used. Notification of Acceptance: The Orange County Arts Council will contact artists by March1st regarding the inclusion of their artwork.

Installation: Installation will begin June 1st, 2016. Artists are responsible for installation, deinstallation and moving costs. If not free-standing, the work must use earth anchors as the method of stabilization. Please consider and demonstrate this in your proposal. Sale of Work: Sale of work is encouraged. Orange County NY Arts Council will neither be responsible for any payments nor distribution or shipment of works. No commission will be deducted from sales. All decisions of the curator/jurors are final. All displayed work must be representative of the proposals submitted as entry. If the physical work does not reflect the descriptions submitted, the work may be rejected. Please send email questions to [email protected]. RULES AND REGULATIONS 1. APPLICATIONS: Applications must be completed in full through https://orangecountynyartscouncil.submittable.com/submit no later than 11:59PM on February 15th, 2016. Any application missing required information will be discarded. A disclaimer form will be released upon acceptance of art work and must be resubmitted to [email protected] or your space will be relinquished. 2. BUSINESS CONDUCT: Artist and exhibitors must maintain the highest degree of professionalism prior, during and upon de-installation of event. 3. RELEASE: Orange County NY Arts Council, Safe Harbors of the Hudson or any participation sponsor will NOT be held responsible for any injury, loss or damage that may occur to the artist or to the artist’s property from any cause whatsoever prior to, during or subsequent to the period covered by the exhibition contract; upon submitting an application the artist expressly releases all of the foresaid from, and agrees to indemnify each of them against any and all claims from such loss, damage or injury from participation in the event 4. PHOTOGRAPHY/PUBLICITY: Orange County Arts Council reserves the right to photograph work for publicity. By entering this exhibition, you agree to the use of your name, likeness, certain personal information, and artwork in any publicity material or documentation developed for the exhibition.
