PERCUSSION INSTRUMENTS – PAGE 15 -A percussion instrument is any objet which produces a sound by being hit. -Percussion instruments are sometimes classified as being pitched or unpitched if the make a definite pitch or indefinite pitch. -Music for pitched percussion instruments can be notated on a stave with the same trable and bass clefs used in many non-percussive intruments. -Music for percussion instruments without a definite pitch can be notated with a special percussion clef.

crashing sound. -The tambourine is a musical instrument consisting of a frame, often of wood or plastic, with pairs of small

metal. -The snare drum is a drum is a drum with strands of snares made of curled metal. The drum can be sounded by hitting it with a drum –stick or any other form of beater, including brushes and rutes.

-A bass drum is a large drum that produces a note of indefinite pitch. It is played with one or sometimes two large, padded mallets. Usually the right hand plays the drum and the left hand muffles it.
