National Peace Corps Association: Classroom Materials NPCA Global Education (www.peacecorpsconnect.org/resources/education) helps educators, parents, current and Returned Peace Corps Volunteers and other interested citizens find the resources, networking and support they need to bring a global perspective into classrooms and communities. By providing Educational resources, our goal is to promote students’ knowledge of, understanding of and respect for the people, cultures and nations of the world. Returned Peace Corps Volunteers of Madison have developed wonderful, large posters of photos from around the world on many themes, “We all play,” “We all work”, as well as their award-winning calendars with hundreds of holidays from all the world’s current and former Peace Corps countries. Make great classroom and hallway posters.

Global Classroom Connections UNICEF Voices of Youth Program

Darfur Sister Schools Program

http://www.darfurdreamteam.org/content/get-involved The Darfur Sister Schools Program offers an opportunity for American students and teachers to become connected to “sister schools” in twelve refugee camps in Chad, where children displaced by the war in Darfur strive to gain a good education and opportunities for the future. Students will be able to learn about the culture and community of their sister school and share their own story as well. Schools involved will inspire and encourage others to take action on global issues.

Interactive and Informational Websites Kids Around the World

http://www.katw.org/ Kids Around the World, a Global TeachNet project, uses the Internet to introduce elementary school-age children in the United States to the lives of children of the same age in developing countries. Children around the world were interviewed to create Kids Around the World, and each profile includes a written English translation of the interview, audio of the interview, and photos of the child, oftentimes including something referenced in the interview.

Free Rice

For every question that is correctly answered, Free Rice donates ten grains of rice through the U.N. World Food Program to help fight world hunger. The more you play, the more rice you help donate.
