+ Past Simple pentru actiuni contrare situatiei de fapt din prezent Situatie: She has no idea about the English grammar, but she always tries to explain things.  She talks as if she knew everything about the English grammar. SAU (She talks as though she knew everything about the English grammar.) 

Situatie: She is skinny and very well dressed.  Yes, she looks as if she were a model, but she’s not – she’s my cousin. SAU (Yes, she looks as though she were a model, but she’s not – she’s my cousin.) 

+ Past Perfect pentru actiuni contrare situatiei de fapt din trecut Situatie: “He was taken in by her words.”  That’s because she spoke as if she had been an actress. SAU (That’s because she spoke as though she had been an actress.)

Situatie: “She is so tanned.”  “Indeed… she looks as if she had stayed for a month at the seaside, which, definitely can’t be true.” SAU (“Indeed… she looks as though she had stayed for a month at the seaside, which, definitely can’t be true.”)

+ were going to pentru situatii viitoare ipotetice Situatie: “I’m so cold.”  “Don’t be ridiculous, it’s April! You look as if winter were going to come.” SAU (You look as though winter were going to come.”) 

 

Situatie: “She is very angry with him.” “Yes, and she behaves as if she were going to leave him. Everybody knows she married him for his money.”
