This is an Election Year!!

So What Does This Mean For You…. • This is an optimal time for AHIMA and PHIMA to make inroads on key issues. • Members of Congress are receptive to hearing from their constituents. • HIM professionals should be a part of the decision making process for healthcare related issues. H.R. 1701/S.972 The Cutting Costly Codes Act

Both of these bills would prohibit the Secretary of Health and Human Services from replacing ICD-9-CM with ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS.

Express Your Opposition to the ICD-10 Delay • On April 1, 2014 H.R. 4302, the Protecting Access to Medicare Act of 2014 was signed into law. This bill delays ICD-10-CM/PCS implementation until at least October 1, 2015. This was done after legislators rushed the bill through both the US House of Representatives and Senate. • Contact your Members of Congress to express your disapproval for the ICD-10-CM/PCS delay and let them know that code sets must be implemented.
