Portuguese Jewish Heritage Tour 8 Days

Services to be included: Round trip/Houston-Lisbon-Houston; Lodging: at Pousadas de Portugal; Meals, lunches and dinners, at Pousadas de Portugal; (liquor not included); All transfers, tour bus and guide (Rabbi Tarlow/Eduardo) in Lisbon, Castelo de Vide, Tomar, Belmonte, Porto, Coimbra; Douro River Cruise and train ride; Meeting with Portuguese soccer players; Night of Fado.

Tuesday and Wednesday Tuesday: Departure for Portugal Wednesday: Arrival Lisbon, Met at airport

Transfer to hotel: Pousada Queluz ou Palmela; Lunch or Welcome reception depending on air schedule; Lecture 1 and Jewish Lisbon City Tour; Dinner and lights out.

Thursday: Breakfast; Leave for city of Castelo de Vide; Lunch at Pousada Marvão.

Travel to Porto;

Dinner in Porto.

Friday Day and Erev Shabbat Services: Breakfast in Porto; City Tour: Porto; Shabbat Services at Porto Synagogue; Transfer to Sta Maria da Feira; Gala Erev Shabbat Dinner tour or soccer school, meet with Portuguese Soccer players; Return to Porto to spend the night.

Saturday: Douro River Cruise through wine country; Tourism Train Ride; Vineyard visits; Open Air Havadalah Services; Dinner.

Sunday: Leave Porto for Belmonte; Lunch Pousada de Belmonte; Visit to Belmonte Synagogue; Lecture on history of Belmonte Jewish community and Crypto-Jews; Leave for Tomar; Visit and Lecture; Spend the night at: Most likely Ourém.

Monday: Visit to Jewish Tomar and then to the University City of Coimbra; Meet with University Professors; Sleep in Lisbon.

Tuesday:

Lisbon; Visit to Lisbon Synagogue and retrace the path of Dona Garcia;

Shopping and pack for home; Dinner and Fado in St. Jorge area.

Wednesday: Leave for Houston, arrival home around 6:00pm
