Motion&Motion is a visually stunning masterpiece. Enter into a dark, geometric world of movement, colour and light. As two female dancers emerge, the white stage transforms into an otherworldly space. Images begin on the floor and then spill onto the bodies of the dancers who move with technical precision. Everything is focused around a dynamic circular centre. The dancer’s weave through different patterns and colourful shapes expand and grow. This hypnotising use of light and movement creates a beautiful setting. Tilted seats present the audience with a bird’s eye view of the action. Some people chose to stand in order to get a better view. The combination of the technology with the dancers worked extremely well together. The constant flux of movement makes it hard to establish a stable connection. Representing how the mind is never truly settled. Especially in the fast paced modern world where everything is becoming increasingly digitalised. The dancers present a complicated struggle for intimacy. This piece explores a network of connections through a sophisticated use of light, sound, and images. A poignant moment for me was when the dancers are eventually still and lie on the ground. Long numbers are projected across their bodies so stillness is never quite achieved. The use of sound worked very well with the images, ranging from fast digital noise to gentle piano notes. The lighting becomes a character in itself, present throughout the whole duration of the performance. The combination of the technology with the dancers worked extremely well together. The overall impact of the production was magical. The theatre was busy and the dancers received an excellent response from the audience. Motion & Motion is a superb piece of physical theatre with beautiful visuals and a thought provoking message
Everything runs so fast. Thoughts, communication, numbers, dates. We live in the digital society, in the internet and social network society. A global community where “all” means “one”, where personal individuality and emotions are progressively amalgamated with the crowd. We are constantly connected but can we really communicate? Motion&Motion wants to highlight the feelings, the power of relationships set free by physicality, the energy created in the meeting of two bodies, the uniqueness of individual emotions. Slowing the daily frenzy, Motion&Mottion brings the audience into an emotional dimension that reopens the doors to the feelings, cause heart is a slow technology that needs to live feelings.
Different experience and different background are the key of our team: two choreographers, one video maker, two musicians and an event organizer. From movement to sound, from color to rhythm, from music to body, from drawing to gesture. And just by mixing these elements this project was born. We are looking for a shared space, a space that is the meeting point of our different forms of art, where the audience is wrapped in a storm of images and sounds losing the boundaries from body to colors, where the body harmony is an interior vibe and the voice becomes just a warm melody.
Laura Matano: has formed at “Centro Studi Danza Moderno – Creativa Chorea” in Bologna, directed by Nicoletta Sacco. Attending the specialization course of study and career guidance, she became teacher in modern and creative technique. Her refinement as contemporary dancer occurred with internationally acclaimed dancers and choreographers such as Carolyn Carson, Dominque Mercy, Malou Airaudo, Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker, Susanne Linke, Wim Vandekeybus, Micha Van Hoecke, Ruxandra Racoviza, Michela Lucenti, Michele Oliva, Giorgio Rossi, Raffaella Giordano, Simona Bucci, Iris Erez. Particularly, in 2002 she took a perfecting class for contemporary dancers under the direction of Simona Bucci. In 2012 she received the diploma for the biennial U.S. Nikolais-Louis Technique Teacher Certificate Program (NLTTCP), recognized and certified by the Nikolais-Louise Foundation for Dance in New York. In 2013 she was selected to attend “College in Danza” at “Biennale della Danza di Venezia” under the artistic direction of Virgilio Sieni. She danced for “Agorà”, choreographed by Virgilio Sieni. At the age of 13 she joined the youth company Children’s Dance Company. In 1999 she became a dancers of “Compagnia Professionale Chorea”, interpreting various choreographies in Italy and abroad. In 2003 she joined “Compagnia LTD” in Reggio Emilia, going on stage with various productions. Since 2006 she has been the guideline of a research group on contemporary movement and experimental choreography, extending her works at video installations, performances and productions. The most important aim of this company is to research and experiment the form of movement, enriching it with the help of several artist from different form of arts that exalts and supports the contemporary movement. With LTDance Project Company she participates in various national and international festivals. In 2008 she choreographed “Le Stanze”, a production that go on stage also for the annual edition of “La Notte Bianca” in Reggio Emilia. In 2010 she created “Interno 10/B” and, through the collaboration between LTDance Project and “Reggio nel Mondo”, participates to the celebration for the twenty-fifth anniversary of the twinning between Reggio Emilia and Forth Worth (Texas). In fact, in September 2010, she went to Texas bringing the world premiere of Interno 10/B as part of the celebrations. In the same year she participated in “AntWork” with the performance “42124 – Alla Ricerca di una Destinazione”, a choreography with the video projection of Emanuela Chiapponi. 2011 was the year of the “Interno 10/B” tour and with this production she went on stage at “Naj Naj Naj Festival” of Zagreb (Croatia), in several Italian theatres and at the prestigious Edinburgh Fringe Festival (Edinburgh – Scotland). With the show “42124 – Alla Ricerca di una Destinazione” she took part at “Settimana della Fotografia Europea” (Reggio Emilia – Italy), at roBOt 04 (Bologna – Italy) and “Notte Verde di Forlì” (Forlì – Italy). Other recently choreographies are “FUN” (2012), “Elevation of Water” (2011) and “Tra Sacro e Profano” (2011). In 2014 her choreography “Paese” is selected for the Oriente Occidente Festival in Rovereto. She has developed her work in the study of researching the movement, trying to create lines of movement that go against the basic symmetry of daily life. Experimenting multiple variables of energy and expressivity of the body she wants to give its own space to the eclectic potential of each dancer. She teaches modern and contemporary dance technique at “Centro Permanente Danza Let’s Dance” of Reggio Emilia, Italy. In the last years she participated with soloists and groups of different ages to various national and international competitions, bringing home amazing results. She is also guest teacher in master classes and workshops throughout the country. She teaches in a Danzability project where there is the union of able-bodied dancers and dancers with disabilities. The Danzability project started with her first collaboration with the City Hall of Reggio Emilia (Extratime project) in September 2003, culminated with the show “E-Vento” staged in May 2004. Since that she has established cooperations and dance workshops for dancers with disabilities with various structures and institutions, such as “Cooperativa Piccolo Principe”, “Cooperativa Sostegno e Zucchero” e “Cooperativa SS Pietro e Matteo”. With the Danzability project she participates in several situation with different shows. Some examples are the International Day of People with Disabilities, with the show “Punti di Vista” (2011), the conference “Diversità come Normalità”, with the show “Equilibrio” (2010), the Paralympic Day with the show “Equilibrio” (2010), the event “Restate Loop” with the show “Punti di Vista” (2010) and the exhibition “Comete Come Te” with the show “Equilibrio” (2010).
Sabrina Rigoni: after a previous education in jazz and modern dance, in 2006 she starts to study contemporary dance with Sara Giurin, dancer of the choreographer Alex Atzewi. In 2009 she joins the three year professional course at DAF (Dance Arts Faculty) of Rome, Italy. She studies with renowned choreographers and classical and contemporary dance teachers, including: Cristina Amodio, G. Stiscia, A. Stepkine, Mauro Astolfi (Artistic Director of Spellbound Dance Company) and many international guest teachers as: Emanuele Soavi (Moving Theatre, DE); Shirley Esseboom (NDT, Assistant Jiri Kylian, NL); Michele Merola (Artistic Director of MMCompany, ENG ); Frassinelli Francesca (ITA) George Reischl (Scapino Ballet, NL); Milena Zullo (Balletto di Roma, ITA ), Noah Gelber (The Forsythe Company, William Forsythe Assistant, DE); Gael Domenger (Ballet Biarritz, FR); Seydi Rodriguez (Mayumana Company, USA); Pogliani Michele (ITA / NL), Thomas Noone (TND Artistic Director, ESP), Christopher Roman (The Forsythe Company, DE); Naomi Perlov (Assistant Angelin Preljocaj, Co-Director Maslool Bikurey Haitim Arts Center, IL); Heidi Vierthaler (NL); Ana Maria Lucaciu (Cedar Lake, USA); Mascarell Marina (ESP / NL). Jessica Incerti Telani has been working in the field of video projection and video graphics for 6 years. Her work is primarily focused on the interpretation of surfaces and context: both in public and private events, she create project where light and shadow, colour and sound, reality and fiction are mixed to reinterpret buildings and environments. Through its special attention to the figure in movement she is able to enhance the choosen surfaces with visual stories of fine workmanship. Her research is mainly and exquisitely based on emotion: the narrative in motion pictures in her work begins and ends with an emotional stimulus. In her work you can recognize the typical dynamism of the futurist current. Movement and rhythm are intertwined with drawings and video animations that redraw the structure borders.
She participated to various events as guest artist. Among others, we can mention the “Settimana della Fotografia Europea” (Reggio Emilia - Italy) where she edited the video projections with Allen Tannenbaum photos and music by Benny Benassi, the same event has seen the installation cure of the Twin-Set store with projection developed on a mannequin. “LaptopsRus” (Caceres-Berlin-Madrid-Taiwan), live event media design dedicated to women, “Visionaire” (Paris - France), the European multimedia convention, “Festival of Chieti” with a mapping area of the Town Hall built in video projection, “Tutto Scorre” in Capri, Italy with projection for interior design, performance projection for “La Donna che Guarda le Stelle” - Ferrara, Torino Music Festival with a Live Visual Mapping for Town Hall Square with DJ sets by Boosta, permanent installation at the puppet museum of Othello Sarzi. Vj resident for the club Tunnel of Reggio Emilia. She has also worked as a VJ in other places as Tenax (Florence), BBKing (Ravenna), Cassero (Bologna), Brancaleone (Rome). Every surface, human or material, or hybrid, is a potential surprise, that declines in the new meaning of emotion.
Marco Giacomelli Musician since child, plays piano and guitar. In the 90’s he starts his professional career between recording studio and music production where we produces house, electronic and live music. In 1999 he moves from Padova to Rome and he starts working on audio post production for TV and cinema. From 2000 to 2003 he works on “Sound On Line” as audio engineer. From 2004 to 2010 he works at Cinecittà as sound designer/editor. Since 2010 he works as sound designer/editor freelance. In 2010 he collaborates with Patty Pravo for her album “Nella terra dei pinguini”. Andrea Bassi: his artistic and production activity exploded in 2010 when he joined LTDance Project Company as technical director and tour manager. With the show “Interno 10 / B” he participated to the celebrations for the twenty-fifth anniversary of the twinning between Reggio Emilia and Fort Worth. In fact in September 2010, he went to Texas to coordinate technical activities for the world premiere of the show. In 2011 he went to “Naj Naj Naj Festival” of Zagreb (Croatia), to several Italian theatres and to the prestigious Edinburgh Fringe Festival (Edinburgh – Scotland) where he represented the company holding all the communication and management aspects. Since 2010 he has been the creator and art director of Swing@Re, a Swing event that takes place every year in Reggio Emilia with the participation of the annual Boogie Woogie world champions and all the dance schools in Northern Italy. The third edition of this event saw the complete customization of the Reggio Emilia Aeroclub’s Hangar, location where the closing party took place.
In 2011 he was the production director of the “30 Anni di Let’s Dance” project, event held on 1st October 2011, that took place in five different squares in Reggio Emilia. He was a member of the organization staff for the “roBOt Festival” (edition 04 and 05) and, in partnership with Shape, he participated to the “Freemote Festival” (Utrecht – NL) and to the “Festival of Festivals” (Matera – Italy) to hold a master class about the “Agile Event Management”, a brand new method he developed for Events Organization. Since January 2012 he has been representative of Production in “OFFicina delle Arti” of Reggio Emilia where he is atelierista on Contemporary Dance. With his own activity, REC Eventi, he contributed at the production of “Settimana della Fotografia Europea 2013” (Reggio Emilia – Italy) coordinating the international workshop “VII Shoot”, in collaboration with aBcM (Milan – Italy) and with the world famous photo agency VII. In June 2013 he was the Production Director for the performance of Alessio Bertallot at “Mercurdo – Il Mercato dell’Assurdo” at Castelvetro di Modena (Modena – Italy).
