What is DeMolay? • DeMolay is a fantastic youth organization for young men ages 12 – 21, dedicated to teaching it’s members to be better people and leaders. • Seven teachings:

Love of Parents Respect for Religion Courtesy Comradeship Honoring one’s promises Cleanness of thought, word, and action Patriotism

What is DeMolay? •Food, Fun, Friendship •Opportunity to improve yourself and others •Provides a positive environment for young men •Athletics, Social Events, Service Projects, Charity Events, and more

DeMolay History • Founded in 1919 in Kansas City, Missouri • Originally consisted of 9 young men because they wanted a baseball team • Name Sake - Jacques DeMolay • French national hero • Lived in the 14th Century

How Big is DeMolay? • DeMolay International: • 8 Countries and expanding • All 50 States and the District of Columbia

• Michigan: • 10 Active Chapters and 4 in Development • 334 Members and expanding

Famous Alumni

DeMolay Activities are: • Unique because the Members run the Chapter. You decide the wide range/variety of activities

Social Activities • Lock-ins, parties, sporting events, video game nights, dances, etc.

Community Activities • Example – Labor Day Bridgewalk, Cleaning up a Park, Helping with Schools, etc.

Athletic Activities • Athletics – You don’t have to be a varsity athlete; everybody plays, everybody has fun • (EXAMPLES)

DeMolay Ritual What is the DeMolay Ritual? • Sets us apart from other organizations • Speech presentation that teaches the lessons of DeMolay

We will perform an example of our Ritual for you after this presentation. Parents/Guardians may witness the ritual!

How do I join? What does it cost? Joining Process: • Apply for membership • Arrange to meet the young men and advisors of the Chapter • Attend Induction Ceremonies

Cost of membership: • One-time, Life-time Membership fee of: (chapter membership fee)
