Geographic Context • Excluding York, North Yorkshire population = 598,400 across 3,000 sqm. • Ryedale has 3rd lowest population density in E&W, Richmondshire 4th, Craven 7th and Hambleton 13th (2011 Census)

• 7 Districts, 2 National Parks, 1 City and 1 County Council

Strategic Context • Priority in North Yorkshire Housing & Homeless Strategy 2012 & Local Investment Plan (LIP) 2011

• LIP target = 300 additional rural affordable homes 2012 to 2015 (75 p.a. av) • Need for C. 2,500 affordable homes in NY in SHMA

RHE Model • 3.5 FTE Enablers • LAs contribute cash + in-kind support • Funding gap filled by • Contributions from NYCC and LCR • Contributions from National Parks • Contributions from 11 RP partners • 30% Fixed retainer shared by all partners • 70% Contribution based on unit delivery in previous year • Governance via NY RHE Network to Regional Housing Board

Delivery • Ave delivery exceeding LIP target of 75 pa: • 2010/11 = 124 • 2011/12 = 126 • 2012/13 = 71 • 2013/14 = 68 forecast • 137 future forecast 14/15 • 300+ in planning pipeline • Focus on small rural communities (65% in settlements of >1,000) • Combination of s106 and RES
