Power of One

Who has the POWER? YOU DO!  Your unique thoughts, ideas and energy give you the POWER!  Use that POWER to get more from your life!  Your POWER can lead you to new skills and special accomplishments! 

Power of one offers the opportunity to---       

Examine issues in depth Work alone at your own pace Tackle personal projects Explore a special interest Learn to set goals and make decisions Develop leadership skills Expand on knowledge and skills learned in FACS Receive recognition for your efforts

Power of one basics Make your dreams come true with Power of One. It’s as easy as---- 1. choose a personal concern  2. set a goal  3. plan and carry out steps to meet your goal 

Who can participate? Any State and Nationally affiliated member can take part in Power of One  In other words-if you have paid your dues 

What is a Power of One Project? An individual activity you create to reach a personal goal. Projects must involve indepth effort.

Two level of Power of One Level one-for less experienced members  Level two-for more experienced members  Any member is allowed to choose either level. 

How much time do I have to spend? You have no time level after you complete the 1st power of one.  Your first deadline for this power of one is Friday, April 22. We will work on them for the rest of the week this week, then on the last day of the week thereafter. 

Identify a personal goal Choose a participation level Plan a project using the five step planning process Meet with your advisor Complete your project Submit your project to your advisor Get recognition

What recognition? Level one projects-you get a ribbon  Level two projects-you get a pin  Complete all five units-get a t-shirt form local FCCLA, get recognized at our regional banquet, get your name in TEEN Times, also you get national recognition at the summer conference and state conference. 
