Description

Most of the tropical Rainforests are located near the equator. 57% of The tropical rainforest are found in Latin America, one third is located in Brazil 18%is located in West Africa, and other tropical rainforests are located in southeast Asia and Pacific Island. 25% of the world is Tropical rainforest.

Some of the landforms of the rainforest are… waterfalls, mountains, rivers and hills. Some of these are located in Africa and to be more specific in The Amazon and in Brazil. Here are some pictures of landforms.

The bush baby is one of the interesting animals that live in the rainforest. The bush baby is a primate and is nocturnal. The bush baby’s eyes are so large to provide it great night vision, to find food and to move around. The bush baby is found in the rainforest tree canopy. The bush baby has long nails to grasp on to the tree branches

Another one of the animals are The two towed sloth. They are found in mostly the rain forest of South America. They have rounded claws to grip on to the tree branches to move around. I would not want to be a two towed sloth because the spend their whole lives with their backs to the ground.

One other animal is The parrot. About 340 species of brightly colored brides make up the parrot family, some names of parrots in the family is the cockatoos, lories, lovebirds, macaws and parakeets. The mostly body color in the family is green. Some American parrots are mostly blue or yellow and some have red as well. The most colorful are the lories, which they usually are mostly red and green with blue yellow and purple as well. The cockatoos are mostly white or black with yellow ,red, or pink. Most parrots are tropical but some species spread out to more temperate areas.

One of the exotic plants are the Bromeliads. The bromeliads are usually in the ground or on trees. They are used for cupping water after it rains. The can hold up to 12 gallons of water. Another plat is the rubber tree. The cycle of producing rubber begins with collection of a milky latex substance produced by the cells of higher plants, it also comes off the bark. It produces 4 ib. annually. Another plant is the epiphytic orchid. The epiphytic orchid does not require soil. It is in the tree branches or crooks in tree trunks. Orchids or other epiphytes plants get the nutrients they need from other plants or by trapping rain water.

The temperatures in the rainforest are always around 7090 degrees over the year. Humidity is around 64% all the time. It rains more in the months of October to April then from May to November. It usually rains every day or every other day. The rainforest gets as much as 30 ft. a year and as little as 6 ft. a year. When it rains in the rainforest it rains HEAVLILY !

*Does it rain every day? It might for a period of time but it usually rains every day or every other day. *Are there any rainforest in the USA? No because Rain forest are around the line of the equator and around there.

This is how Water plays a part in my biome, it is like a cycle. First the humid air hangs over the rainforest. Then wind blows the tiny water drops up where they begin to get cool and from clouds. Then it begins to rain and water slides off leafs and tree trunks to the ground. Then about 50% evaporates into the air and it starts over.

I got my information from these places…nkms.com national geographic vol. 163 no.1 Jan. 1983 Microsoft encyclopedia disc and google. THANK YOU!!!!
