Audition Period • Monday 15th December to Wednesday 17th December

Rehearsal Period • Monday and Wednesday evenings 7-10pm at East Lindfield Community Hall – 9 Wellington Rd, East Lindfield • Monday 26th January to Wednesday 29th April • There will be a selection of weekend rehearsals required. These will be negotiated with the cast once the initial rehearsal period has commenced.

Baritone: A - High G Playing approx 28 years old An average working man. Warm hearted and determined but insecure, and has never faced his fears. Loads of singing – strong voice needed. Mezzo-Soprano: G - High F Playing approx 28 years old Determined and bright. A romantic at heart, but materialistic at times. The leading role with plenty of songs. Good acting skills needed Mezzo-Soprano: Low F - High F with good belt! Playing approx 30 – 40 years old Outwardly: self-serving, possessive, sarcastic, vain, charismatic. Inwardly: insecure and lonely. Hugely challenging role, strong singing and acting needed Soprano: G - High G Playing approx 25 years old Earnest, pretty, warm-hearted, kind, and trying to find her place in the world. A survivor. Good Singing voice particularly required. Mezzo-Soprano: B - High F Adult Performer – Playing approx 14 – 15 years old A spoiled, clever, vain, smart alec. Seeks approval in place of love, of which she has had none. Fun character, adult playing a child. Soprano or alto High Soprano: C - High A sharp Playing approx 25 years old A loopy-but-lovely maiden who is completely and utterly innocent of worldly matters and drifts through life. Needs good vocal control. Strong legit soprano Tenor: A - High G Adult Performer – Playing approx 16 – 18 years old The feckless Giant Killer, almost a man. Eager to please and impulsive. A little slow of learning, and misled by his lack of self-knowledge. A challenging role. Strong legit tenor. Soprano: B - High F sharp Playing approx 58 – 60 years old A single mother and a fighter, working hard and determined to make a good life for her hapless Son. Older, mid-range female. Mezzo-Soprano: A sharp - High F Playing approx 45 – 50 years old Mean-spirited, greedy and demanding. Superb character part. Mezzo-Soprano: C - High E Playing approx 22 – 25 years old Cinderella's stepsister, lovely but black of heart. Loud, energetic. Good character role. Mezzo-Soprano: C - High E Playing approx 22 – 25 years old Cinderella's stepsister, lovely but black of heart. Loud, energetic. Good character role. Soprano. Playing approx 50 years old Nurturing and loving. A spirit, who dispenses useful advice. Good singing voice Likely cast these 3 roles, Open vocal range. Baritone: C sharp - High E Playing approx 35 – 40 years old Just as vain, gorgeous, etc as his older brother although not as tall. Strives endlessly to be beat him in all things. Baritone: B - High F Playing approx 35 - 40 years old Likely cast these 2 roles, Vain, gorgeous, self-dramatizing and endlessly confident. A hero in his own life’s story. cast as same actor Baritone: B - High G flat Playing approx 35 - 40 years old Hungry and insatiable. Seductive and sexy. Only two scenes but he could easily steal them both! Open vocal range. Playing approx 35 - 40 years old Surly and bureaucratic, full of self-importance. No solo singing but plenty of good lines. Open vocal range Playing approx 55 - 60 years old A drinker, out of touch with his family but harmless and well-meaning. No solo singing. Non-singing…must moo Mature age female dancer/actor (pref 55 – 65 years old) A sad sickly cow. Must be very flexible actor. Lots of stage time…in a cow suit…Male or Female

Into the Woods – Audition Information Auditions: Mon 15th & Tues 16th December 7pm – 10pm • 10 minute audition slots • Prepare a song of your choice (appropriate to the role you are auditioning for) OR; • Select a number from the show • You will likely not get through performing your entire song due to the time constraints of the audition process. Be prepared to be politely stopped during your number. With this in mind perhaps present the passage of the song which best demonstrates your suitability for the role. • Please provide clear, well marked sheet music for the audition accompanist. Backing tracks and acappella auditions will not be accepted. • You will be asked to do a cold-read of some script. We are looking for a character interpretation – not perfect script reading ;) • Be prepared to consider an alternative role to what you might see yourself as. There are lots of terrific roles in the woods! • You may or may not be asked to comeback for a callback on Wednesday 17th. If you are, you will be supplied with a passage of music from the show we would like you to familiarise yourself with.

Callbacks: Wednesday 17th December 7pm – 10pm • When you are asked to attend the callback at your initial audition, you will be supplied with an approximate timeslot in which you will be seen. Please ensure you are on time – and understand that there may be a wait involved. • It is absolutely not expected that you learn the show excerpt note-perfect. Please familiarise yourself with the section by notebashing, listening to soundtracks etc. We are more concerned with your personal interpretation than your ability to quickly learn music. • You may be asked to stay around in order to be partnered with other actors auditioning for roles opposite you (Eg Baker & Bakers Wife).
