You should wear your regular make up (foundation, blush, eyeliner, mascara, etc. Whatever looks best) Sleeping Beauty’s wig is very soft and occasionally can slip backwards, so make sure you cover up to your forehead. If possible, dab a bit of foundation/coverup on the very upper part of your hairline and the hair around your ears so it isn’t as noticeable if the wig slips. Eyeshadow colors are best in pink or blues. You can also use silvers as that looks very nice with blonde hair. Lipstick is pink or red-pink. Put a bit of blush on the cheeks as well. Nails should be neutral. No nailpolish except for clear Below are some examples for you to reference

Notes on the costume: This costume is made of silk and has long sleeves. While good for winter, it can get hot in the summer or warmer areas. Please dress appropriately. You do not have to wear tights with this outfit if you wish. Try to stay in the shade and drink water. If you are getting overheated please let someone know immediately. The costume should be worn with a strapless bra in skin color. This costume is off the shoulder so any straps would be seen. Please wear a skin colored bra. If you don’t have one wear a pink or white one. No odd colors. This is incase, depending on your size, anything may show depending on how you move. IE: no bright red/yellow/blue or patterened bras. Keep track of the wig. This is a very silky wig and occasionally does start to side back. If you feel it doing so, try to pull it back in place with a hidden gesture (or quickly turn away). If another person sees it slipping they will give you our ‘finger wiggle’ to let you know. With the petticoat, try to keep track of it as you move. Standing up and down quickly could snag on it. Hold your dress and petticoat together when moving to help keep it out of the way.

Being Sleeping Beauty Here are some basic traits and history of Merida. http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/Princess_Aurora History: o Sleeping Beauty’s real name is Aurora. She is also called Briar Rose. o Born to the King and Queen of the kingdom, Aurora is named after the dawn because she filled their lives with sunshine. They held a huge party for their princess but forgot to invite Maleficent – an evil sorcerer. o Maleficent puts a curse on baby Aurora so that on her 16th birthday she will prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and die. Merryweather (the blue fairy) hadn’t given the child a gift and while she couldn’t remove the curse she could make it better. Instead of death, she would sleep only to be awaken by true love’s kiss. o Trying to thwart the curse, Aurora is sent into the forest to live with the three good fairies (flora, fauna, and merryweather). The fairies give up magic and raise her as their own. They call Aurora Briar Rose. o On her 16th birthday she meets Prince Phillip in the forest and they fall in love. o When she comes home the fairies tell her who she really is. They tell her she is really Princess Aurora and that she is betrothed (she is actually bethrothed to Phillip but no one knows who the others are). o The fairies take a sad aurora back to the castle. There Maleficent enchants the princess and leads her up to an abandoned tower of the castle. There she makes a spinning wheel and tries to get her to touch it. The fairies try to stop her but it’s too late. o Aurora sleeps through the rest of the movie until she is woken by True Love’s kiss. Would all of you like to help me tell my story? Well, how shall we being? Let’s see … all of my favorite stories begin with once upon a time! So let’s start the story together, shall we? On the count of three. One, Two, Three, Once Upon A Time! Once Upon a time… in a far away land, lived a king and queen who for many years, longed to have a child. Finally their wish was granted, and a baby was born! Do you know who that baby was? That’s right, it was me! They named me Aurora, after the dawn. My father decided to make that day a holiday, and invited everyone to a huge birthday party for me. People from all around came. There were three special guests too. Do you know who these were? They were fairies! Let’s see… what color is this one wearing? Pink! That’s right and her name was Flora. What about this one? Green! Her name was Fauna. What about this one? That is Merryweather! We have three dolls, one of each fairy. You can have some children hold them or hold them yourself whenever they come into the story. Now, instead of giving me gifts, the fairies each placed a spell on me. But, just as Merryweather was going to give me her gift, a suddenly powerful wind blew open the doors. Thunder and lightning filled the sky! Everyone yell BOOM! The castle door swung open and an evil witch entered. Do you know what her name was? It was Malificient and she was not nice! She was very angry that my parents had not invited her to the celebration. In revenge she placed a curse on me, saying that before the sun set on my 16th birthday, I would prick my finger on a spinning wheel… and die! With those words, Malificent vanished into thin air. We thought all was lost, but luckily my good fairy Merryweather still had her gift to give. She changed the curse so instead of dying, I would only sleep until true love’s kiss woke me up. Although we had foiled Malificent’s plans, my parents wanted to keep me safe. So they sent me and the good fairies into the forest to hide. My fairies gave up their magic and lived as regular people for sixteen years. I didn’t even know that I was a princess!

On my 16th birthday, my aunts were planning a special birthday party for me. While they planned, they sent me out to the forest to pick some berries. Picture shows animals surrounding her. Have the children say what animals they see. While I was there I was telling all my animal friends of a dream I had – a dream where I met a handsome prince. When – to my surprise – a prince did appear! I felt like I had met him before… maybe once upon a dream…. Before I knew it we were falling in love! Back at the cottage my aunts were trying to make a my birthday special. They wanted to make me a cake and a dress. But I don’t think it was working out. Do you? No! So my fairies decided to use magic for the first time in years! Everyone get out your magic wand…. Now use the magic to make a beautiful dress! Should it be pink or blue? Yell out what color it should be! *they yell* now let’s make a beautiful cake! How many layers should it be? What flavor? Wonderful! Well, when I got home, I was shocked to find a beautiful dress and a delicious cake waiting for me. I was also surprised when I found out that I was a princess. But I was also very sad because they told me as a Princess, my husband was already chosen. I began to cry thinking I wouldn’t get to marry the man I had met in the woods. That night, Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather took me to the castle. There, they gave me a final gift. Do you know what it was? Point to crown. A crown! *From here on the story is different if using another character/actor to do the part when Arora Falls asleep* While I was waiting suddenly I saw this floating green light. I followed it all the way up the stairs… up… and up… and up… When I opened a door I saw a spinning wheel. I reached out a finger *do action* and as soon as I did… I fell asleep! Everyone fall asleep for a moment! *pretend to sleep* My fairies found me and were very upset. They decided to put the whole kingdom to sleep until they could wake me. Everyone fall asleep again.*mime* Well luckily the boy I met in the forest was actually a Prince and he wanted to save me! My fairies found Prince Phillip locked in Malificent’s dungeon. They gave him a sword and shield and he rushed to rescue me. He had to fight through the vines. Everyone get out your swords. No cut through the vines! *have everyone pretend to cut through vines* and then a huge dragon appeared! Do you know who the dragon really was? It was maleficent! She’d transformed herself. So Phillip took his sword *mime* and stabbed the dragon. The dragon fell and turned to dust. Malificent was defeated!

Prince Phillip rushed up the stairs and found me fast asleep. Do you remember what needed to happen to break the spell? I could only be awoken by true love’s kiss! So, he kissed me *everyone blow a kiss!* and the spell was lifted. I opened my eyes and we rushed downstairs to see everyone else who was waking up. I met my mother and father – the king and queen – and we all lived in the castle together, my father, mother, Prince Phillip, and my three good fairies. From that day on, we lived happily ever after. Can you say that with me? Happily Ever After! THE END! CHANGE OF STORY WITH 2 CHARACTERS

Aurora: Well, when I got home, I was shocked to find a beautiful dress and a delicious cake waiting for me. I was also surprised when I found out that I was a princess. But I was also very sad because they told me as a Princess, my husband was already chosen. I began to cry thinking I wouldn’t get to marry the man I had met in the woods. That night, Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather took me to the castle. There they gave me a crown, but I was still so sad that they decided to leave me alone. And that is when something strange began to happen. *From here is where the second character or helper will come in to help. Their part will be noted* Aurora: I saw a green ball of light floating in the air… I got up and began following it up the stairs… *aurora will hold out hand, as if in a trance, and act like she’s about to prick her finger on a spinning wheel* Helper:

“Oh no! Quick, everyone call out! Tell her not to reach for it! (call ‘no no’ etc).

Aurora: *pricks her hand and falls asleep* Helper: Oh dear! Maleficient had tricked Aurora! She’d made her prick her finger on a spinning wheel and she fell fast asleep. Her three good fairies found her and didn’t know what to do! So they decided to put the whole kingdom to sleep until they could wake her up. Can we all pretend to call asleep for a moment? *Pretend to sleep. Maybe make snoring noises* Ok! Wake up! There is still work to do. The only way to break the curse was with a kiss from Aurora’s True love…. Does anyone know who that is? *ask kids* That’s right! It was the boy from the woods – Prince Phillip! Flora, Fauna, and Merriweather rushed to find him. When they did he’d been locked in Maleficient’s dungeon! They quickly freed him and gave him two very special objects. An enchanted shield of virtue and the mighty sword of truth! He’d need this now more than ever.

Prince Phillip rode back to the castle… but it was surrounded by thick vines! Alright everyone, we need to cut through these! *mime cutting through vines with a sword.* Phew! We got through… but what’s this? Malificent has transformed herself into a giant dragon! *everyone roar like a dragon!* We need to slay this beast. Everyone hold your sword up and stab it right into the dragon’s heart! *mime*. When Phillip did this the dragon fell to the cliffs below, leaving only dust behind. With Malificent defeated Prince Phillip rushed up the stairs of the castle to find Aurora fast asleep. He knelt beside her and gave her a kiss. *can everyone blow a kiss to Aurora? MWAH!* Aurora: *yawns and awakens* Oh! And with that the spell was lifted! I opened my eyes to see my True Love before me. Phillip and I rushed downstairs where everyone was waking up. I met my mother and father – the king and queen!- and we all lived…. Oh can you help me say this? Everyone: Happily Ever After! THE END!
