Main Ideas • Tom, a naughty but also

clever boy, is the main character of the story “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.” The story described the adventure of Tom and Hunk, his good friend, during their childhood.

What makes me impressed in the Book-Ι • One day, Tom was asked to whitewash the fence by his aunt. He hated the job. Luckily, at that time, Roger came up to him with an apple. Tom wanted the apple, so he told Roger whitewashing was fun. So, Roger wanted to try the work. Then, Roger promised to give Tom the apple. Tom got what he wanted instead of what he disliked.

What makes me impressed in the Book－II • One day, when Tom and Huck were playing inside a cave, they found Indian Red Joe hid a lot of gold coins and saw that the doctor was killed by Red Joe. They were both frightened. After that, Tom, Huck and Joe went to a little island which was called Jackson’s Island and started their amazing adventure. They got homesickness but didn’t say it. After a big storm, Aunt Polly and people in the village believed that they were missing and dead. However, when the funeral began, Tom and Huck entered the church. At that moment, everybody was happy that they were still alive.

My Opinions - I •

This story is interesting, so that is why people read it again and again. Tom is a naughty and energetic boy, but he is also brave. The dialogues between the characters are vivid and the plots are dramatical. Above all, Mark Twain wrote the story with great humor. He is a wonderful writer.

My Opinions - II • I think everyone's childhood would be happy, just like Tom. Now, we have all become junior high school students. We have to study hard. We are too busy to play like before we did. “Time and tide wait for no men”, so we need to seize the time when we are still young.
