We decided to go to the party. Oh, no! I forgot to go to the dentist! They helped us to start the car. We hope to see him soon. I am learning to ski. We need to change the tyre. He offered to take me to school. We´re planning to get married soon. He just pretended to be ill! She promised to bring it back soon.

Remember to write me soon! She started to cry. I am trying to find a new job. They want to watchTV. ! My mum wants me to be a doctor. • I´d like to buy a new car.

* Try and remember can be followed by –ing but the meaning changes.

E.g. Why don’t you try sleeping with an open window? = experiment Do you remember meeting him? = remember smt after it happened

Negatives Compare: • She promised not to tell the news to anybody. • She did not promise to tell the news to everybody. • She did not promise not to tell the news to everybody. • They asked us not to worry about it.

Exceptions • Start can be used with both the infinitive and verb +ing with no difference in meaning. ex. It started snowing. It started to snow. Make and let - use infinitive without to.

Ex. Dancing makes me feel good. My parents do not let me stay out after dark.

Modal verbs • will, would, should, must, can, could, might, may, shall • Do not use infinitive! Ex. I will help you. What shall I do? Can I watch this movie? They would not like going there.

To be looking forward to -ing I am looking forward to hearing from you soon. They are looking forward to having a holiday soon. Are they looking forward to meeting me?

Adjectives + the verbs with to • It is necessary to go there immediately. • This mobile is so easy to use! • It is important to call there as soon as possible. • Hi! How wonderful to see you again. • Do you ever find it impossible to understand his accent? • They are always so pleasant to talk to.

Verbs + ing I enjoy flying. Has he finished reading that book? I have to go on studying. We hate drinking tea with milk. They like sleeping late. I love going shopping. I do not mind washing up. He spends hours doing nothing. I started painting again. Why did he stop talking to you? I just wasted time talking to them!

Přestaň ztrácet čas chatováním na internetu! 6. Chodíte rádi na ryby? 7. Už jste dojedli? 8. Těšíš se na to, až ho znovu uvidíš? 9. Můžu ti ráno zavolat? 10. Moji rodiče mě vždy donutí uklidit si v pokoji.
