Realism and Fantasy Monitor and Fix Up A realistic story tells about something that could really happen.  In a realistic story, people are like people we know.  They say and do things like real people.  A fantasy is make-believe.  In a fantasy, animals might talk.  Impossible things might happen. 

hoard If you hoard something, you collect it and store it away. Often this can be food or money, and sometimes it is done secretly. My brother likes to hoard candy in his room. My dog hoards bones in his doghouse. The king liked to hoard gold coins.

scold scold  If you scold people, you tell them off or discipline them.  I know Mom will scold me for eating cookies before a meal.  My teacher scolded me for not doing my homework. 

interrupt in – ter - rupt  When you interrupt, you stop someone who is talking or you stop something that is happening.  Do not interrupt other people while they are talking.  She interrupted the speaker with a question. 
