World Diabetes Day

World Diabetes Day was established in 1991 by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and the World Health Organization (WHO) in response to the alarming rise in diabetes cases worldwide. The date, November 14th, was chosen to commemorate the birthday of Sir Frederick Banting, a Canadian scientist who, along with Charles Best, played a pivotal role in the discovery of insulin in 1922. Insulin revolutionized the treatment of diabetes and remains a life-saving medication for millions of people globally.
