Entry Requirements – Prerequisites • Entry to some degree courses requires Certain pre-requisites – DO CHECK WITH THE INDIVIDUAL UNIVERSITY. Eg. University of Melbourne – Bachelor of Science (English, Mathematics and one of Bio, Chem or Physics) • Preferred IB subjects & levels or assumed knowledge. While these aren’t always essential, you’ll stand a greater chance of obtaining a place if you can provide evidence of prior learning in these areas. Eg. University of Adelaide – Bachelor of Computer Science (Maths, Physics) • Medicine - ISAT (International Students – No set dates, register between March and January) - UMAT (Domestic Students – Only 1 test date, Eg. 30 July for 2014. Registration closes early June.
Applying as a Domestic Student • Every domestic student must go through the Australian university application system called TAC – Teritary Admissions Centre South Australia & Northern Terrirtory– SATAC Victoria – VTAC New South Wales & Australian Capital Territory – UAC Queensland – QTAC Western Australia – WATAC Tasmania – Direct Application to the university

IB /ID vs ATAR - ATAR = Australian Tertiary Admission Rank - the system used to try to put international examinations on an even weighting. It is based on rank, not performance. Eg. ATAR = 80 (top 20% for the particular year) - The ATAR is what will get you into universities ! - For ID students, please contact the university directly for admission requirements and individual assessment.

Applying as an International Student • You do not need to go through the TAC (Tertiary Admissions Centre) • Your IB points will not be converted to ATAR • Before you apply, check the minimum IB requirement
Applying as an International Student Two timings to apply1. Apply directly to each university by late December with your predicted grades to start in August. (Eg. Monash and University of Melbourne). – Have up to 2 or 3 subject choices on one application to each university. – Receive a conditional offer, verify results in July and start in August.

Apply with your final results to start in the following year February. – Apply directly to each university anytime after results, no particular application deadline, but earlier the better – Have up to 2 or 3 subject choices on one application to each university. – Apply for accommodation (2 references) – Generally will receive offers within 3 weeks – Your accommodation will be confirmed after you received an offer.
