BUS NOTICES At times there are delays with the afternoon bus drop off times. This may be because of mechanical problems or a traffic situation. It is understandable that primary parents can become quite anxious and worried when their child is not dropped off at the usual time. Should this happen please call Murphy Buses on 09 2686620, state the number of the Strathallan bus and ask whether they have been notified of a delay. It is usual for the driver to call this in to the depot. The primary office is unmanned after 3.30pm daily, however the college office is manned until 4.30pm. Their number is 09 2950830 should you need to make contact.

Bus 2 – this bus will now leave the Polo grounds at 7.35am, in order to bring it back into line with the route plan to be at Ardmore School by 7.50am and to be able to arrive at school on time at 8.15am. This change was effective from 8th May.

You should have received your Term Two bus invoice by now, once this has been paid students are expected to take their old ticket to student reception and swap it for their new Term 2 ticket. Please remind your son/daughter to do this ASAP. All primary students will have their ticket delivered to them. Please note if you are currently on Bus 5, the route changed as from Monday 5th May to include Drury Hills, afternoon only. You should have already received a notice about this but if you have any questions please call the school office. BLACKBOARD The campus uses Blackboard to inform parents of notices, children’s common assessment task results in Years 4 to 6 and teachers place each week’s Homework sheet there. All parents have a log in and password for this. It is a good idea to check this regularly for any additional notices your child’s teacher may have placed there as an Announcement. If you are uncertain how to access Blackboard please contact Katrina Wymer via email: [email protected] and she will be able to provide you with your log in and password. GRANDMASTER KARATE VISIT Last term, the Strathallan karate students had the opportunity to train with Grandmaster Hanshi Kaiichi Nakamoto. Grandmaster Nakamoto is the one of the world’s most senior grandmasters from Japan, being a tenth degree black belt in weaponry and karate. Strathallan karate students were congratulated on their high standard of karate and their exceptional manners, motivation and willingness to learn. The photographs below were taken during his afternoon training session.

WINTER TUNICS Second hand winter tunics are in demand. If you have any at home that your daughter has outgrown, and you would like to sell them, please bring them into the school office once they have been dry cleaned and they will be sold on your behalf. ARTS WEEK / JUNIOR PRODUCTION As part of the Arts Alive 2014 celebration the school will be performing four concerts over the 17th and 18th of June. Years One, Two and Three will present "Eddie The Penguin Saves The World" along with the Pre School "Cry Baby Moon". Years 4, 5, and 6 will entertain with a Music Extravaganza. Specific details about performance times and ticket booking will be given at a later date. Ms Leggett is asking for help with the sewing of costumes for "Eddie". If you are able to help, please can you make contact via email, or see her in the Music Room. All material and patterns/instructions will be given. [email protected] WINTER UNIFORM All students must change into winter uniform from Tuesday 3rd June, after Queen’s Birthday weekend. Sunhats are not required until the children are wearing their summer uniforms again. YEAR 5/6 EXAMINATIONS These begin on Tuesday 3rd of June and continue until Friday 6th June. Year 5 and 6 teachers will provide their classes with an explicit study guide to ensure the children can prepare for their examinations. The Year 5 classes will have one examination in period 1 each day. The Year 6 classes will have three days with two papers to sit, these are past Cambridge papers and this will be preparation for the end of year Cambridge Checkpoint testing. A timetable for these examinations will be sent home with all Year 5/6 students early next week and a small one will be glued into their Student Diary. It is important that the children do not become overly anxious about these examinations. They are simply another summative assessment task, little different from those they complete at the end of many units of work throughout the year.
