Swim Ontario All current SNC Rules and Warm up Procedures will be followed. The only meet package which will be considered as valid must be the most current version found on www.swimming.ca

Eligibility:

All athletes must be registered as Competitive swimmers with SNC, or any other amateur swimming organization recognized by FINA. A valid SNC registration number is required for all Canadian swimmers, and entries without a SNC registration number will be declined entry.

Qualifying Stds: ‘E’ and below – There is no meet or individual qualifying time standard. This is a novice meet. Please do not enter swimmers with times above ‘E’. Entry Deadline: All team entries must be received by Friday 27 November 2015 Changes to entries will not be accepted after Tuesday 8 December 2015 Please submit entries using www.swimming.ca . No entries will be accepted directly by meet management. Entry Fees:

$ 7.00 per individual 25m event $ 9.00 per individual 50m or 100m event $ 12.00 per relay entry Please make cheques payable to York Swim Club and deliver to Clerk of Course.

Deck Entries:

Will be accepted only for swimmers already in the meet and for empty lanes only. The cost for deck entries is $10.00 per individual event, $15.00 per relay event to be paid in cash/cheque at the time that the entry is accepted.

Coach Registration:

All events are Time Finals All age groups will be seeded together slowest to fastest within each event. No scratch penalty shall be imposed for late scratches. Please use the posted heat sheets to indicate scratches as information only. Results will be posted and awards provided for the age groups listed under ‘Awards’. Meet management reserves the right to modify session times (all clubs will be notified 1 week before the meet), limit entries, and eliminate relays to fit available pool time.

All swimmers and coaches must be duly registered and residents of the governing body for which they are competing. All swimmers and coaches must be in good standing with their respective governing swim body. All swimmers and coaches must have primary residence within the province/state or country for which they claim registration. Proof of residency may be green card, student ID, driver’s license, college residence or other document as deemed acceptable by Swim Ontario and shall be submitted with the Proof of Residence and Registration Status form to Swim Ontario. Meet management will cross reference the list of coaches in attendance at this competition with the Swim Ontario Compliancy lists. If a coach is not on this list, meet management is obligated to enforce the SNC policy and not permit that coach to attend meet. Meet management will forward Swim Ontario a list of coaches who they have found to be in non-compliance.

Split Times:

The procedure for obtaining an ‘Official Split’ now requires that coaches make the request to the session referee or meet management on the “Official Split Request” form prior to the race. The split for the lead-off leg in relays will still be regarded as an official split and therefore no request by coaches is needed for relays. However, in the new ‘mixed gender’ relays, lead-off times/splits are not considered ‘official splits’ as per international practice.

Photographers:

Photographers must obtain authorization from meet management before the event to get access to the deck.

Awards:

Individual results will be separated for award purposes into the following age groups: 8 & under, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 & over Medals: Individual Events 1st Relay 1st Ribbons: Individual Events 2nd – 6th Relays 2nd – 6th

SWIMMING CANADA COMPETITION WARM-UP SAFETY PROCEDURES Meet Management for all sanctioned Canadian swimming competition must ensure the following safety procedures are applied. It is incumbent on coaches, swimmers, and officials to comply with these procedures during all scheduled warm-up periods. Coaches are requested to encourage swimmers to cooperate with Safety Marshals. GENERAL WARM-UP:      

Swimmers must enter the water FEET FIRST in a cautious manner, entering from a start or turn end only and from a standing or sitting position. Running on the pool deck and running entries into the pool tank are prohibited. Meet Management may designate the use of sprint or pace lanes during the scheduled warm-up time. Any such lane usage must be communicated either in pre-competition handout, announcement or deck signage. Diving starts shall be permitted only in designated sprint lanes. Only one-way swimming from the start end of sprint lanes is permitted. Notices or barriers must be placed on starting blocks to indicate no diving during warm-up.

EQUIPMENT:   

Kick Boards, Pull-Buoys, Ankle Bands, and Snorkels are permitted for use in the scheduled warm-up time. Meet Management may permit use of tubing or cord assisted sprinting in designated lanes and during specific times of the warmup only. Coaches are responsible for equipment reliability and use. Hand paddles, drag chutes, and flippers / fins are not permitted during any warm-up at any time.

VIOLATIONS:  

Swimmers witnessed by a Safety Marshal diving or entering the water in a dangerous fashion will be removed without warning from their first event following the warm-up period in which the violation occurred. In the case of a second offense during the same competition the swimmer will be removed from the competition in its entirety. A provincial disciplinary action or report may be filed.

SAFETY MARSHALS:

The Safety Marshal is a trained position designated by Meet Management. Safety Marshals shall:    

Be visible by safety vest Be situated at each end of the competition tank and when applicable, similarly situated in designated warm-up tanks when precompetition warm-ups are scheduled. Actively monitor all scheduled warm-up periods. Ensure participants comply with warm-up safety procedures and report violations to the Referee.

PARA-SWIMMER NOTIFICATION:

Coaches are requested to notify Safety Marshals of any Para-swimmers participating in warm-ups where necessary and at the coach’s discretion. The following statement must appear in all Swimming Canada sanctioned meet information and posted notices: “SWIMMING CANADA COMPETITION WARM-UP SAFETY PROCEDURES WILL BE IN EFFECT AT THIS MEET.”

AQUATIC EVENT PROCEDURES FOR SWIMMERS, MEET MANAGERS, OFFICIALS AND COACHES 1. Absolutely no food on the pool deck – water is allowed. 2. No running on the deck. 3. No ‘outside’ footwear allowed on deck (deck shoes only). 4. ‘Wet’ swimmers allowed on pool deck and in ‘wet’ areas of change rooms only. 5. Swimmers must dry off before using ‘dry’ areas of change rooms. 6. Swimmers must have clothing and shoes on outside of pool deck and change rooms. 7. Swimmers that are not to be in other areas of the building, and are not to upset the normal operation of the other departments. 8. Only participating swimmers, coaches, and officials are allowed on deck. 9. Coaches are directly responsible for the supervision of their athletes at all times. This includes the pool area, change rooms, hallways and all other areas of the facility.
